Holiday weekend??

Holiday weekend?  What’s that?  I spent most of my weekend working mixed with a little bit of play.  I started a new job last week (Tues.- Sat. schedule) but I did go to Maine Saturday for an overnight trip.  It was good to get away, but it wasn’t enough time to really relax.  I headed back Sunday morning and had a productive day which included stopping by a fabulous flea market where I picked up a couple of good items to flip.

Here a couple of before pictures. The two chairs are actually 2 of 4.  They’re folding chairs, what a find!

Then the rest of Sunday was running errands, getting materials and flipping.  Monday was flip flip flip!!   Luckily it was a beautiful day yesterday so I took advantage of the outside space.  As you may know I have limited space in my apartment, so anytime I can work outside is great!!  I’m thankful for my neighbors who don’t mind!

The countdown is on!  My first flea market for the season is Sunday!  So much to do, so little time!

Another happy customer!!

My friend Christian said he needed some sort of stand to put his computer monitor on so he didn’t have to lean over and break his back.  He said “You don’t happen to have anything that might work do you?”  Well, guess what?  I DID!  I just happened to have something sitting around because I found it and thought someday I might find a use for it.  I know, I know, that’ what hoarders say, but in this case it was legit!

This is the random piece I just happened to have around.  It was probably a stool in an earlier life.

If you’ve followed this blog you know that I say I wait for the pieces to talk to me, to tell me what they want to be.  This one didn’t speak very loudly.  Plus I was dealing with the pressure of basically making something with free reign.  It sounds good, but it’s scarey when you’re making something for a friend/client/customer and you don’t know exactly what they want, and maybe they don’t either.  I was able to get a color preference out of him, so that helped!

I ended up quiet happy with it, even though it took me a while to figure what to do with it.  I think Christian is happy with it.  At least he said he was!!

Chair Repair

Look what I’m learning to do!!   I hope I can save more chairs when I learn how to re-cane and repair their seats.  Stay tuned to see the progress as I go along.

I’m mad that I didn’t take a couple of photos of the chair before I started, but next time I will!!

An adorable small side table.  I was inspired by the expensive designer shoes with the red soles!

Below is a cute end table. I’m currently working another to  match it.  They aren’t a pair but when I’m finished with the second piece I’m hoping people will see them as an “unmatched pair!”
